Housing in Portugal has risen by almost 11%

In October 2021, average home prices in the country rose 10.6% year-over-year and 1.2% month-over-month.

What happened? According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), in October 2021, the average house price in Portugal increased by 1.2% monthly and 10.6% annualized to €1,250 per square meter.

Regions. The largest increase in prices compared to the previous month was registered in the autonomous region of Madeira and the north (+1.5%), while only in the autonomous region of the Azores there was a decrease (-1.7%).

Compared to October 2020, the most significant increase was recorded in the Lisbon metropolitan area (+10.3%) and the least in the autonomous region of the Azores (+2%).

Prices. The highest average cost of housing is registered in the Algarve (€ 1,670 per sq.m.), and the lowest – in the Alentejo (€ 890).
